Grove Winery & Vineyards, Gibsonville, NC

One particularly nice part about the Grove tasting room, is the seating around a little pond in the back.  After you have tasted, you can buy a glass of whatever you liked best and enjoy the evening.  Sometimes there’s music.

We were there last Fall and tasted several wines. Here are my notes:

Dry Whites:
Eno River White, earthy
Haw River White (2010), tasted like Spam
Traminette (2011), had a strong scent of lily
Voignier (2009), bland
Chardonnay (2010), the Reserve was good

Dry Reds:
Dry Rosé, all nose, mild berry
Merlot (2010), no note
Sangiovese (2009), light, lightly tannic
Cabernet Franc (2009), tannic
Red Clay Red (2010), green bell peppers
Roanoke River Red (2010), nice blend, good body
Norton (2010), cloves
Ensemble, good blend, mostly Merlot, lighter than RFR
Malbec, better mouth than nose

Semi-Dry & Sweet Whites
Traminette (2011) Easter lily
Niagra, tastes like scuppernongs
