Il Palio, Chapel Hill, NC

We never realized it was there until we got a Groupon offer for it.  Il Palio is magnificent.

Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay/Riesling/Malvasia, X Winery, 2010, North Coast.

Chardonnay, Dreyer Sonoma, 2010 Sonoma County

I had grappa cured salmon (chapel hill creamery quark, caviar, extra virgin olive oil, chive, toasted crostini), Chuck had arugala salad (extra-virgin olive oil, lemon, grana padano), Carolyn had fall caprese slaad (oven-dried tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, basil, aged balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil),

I had  the small tagliatelle all tartufo (winter black truffle pesto, extra-virgin olive oil, grana padano, toasted pine nuts) , Carolyn had francobolli  (mushroom and spinach ravioli, sun-dried tomatoes,  beurre blanc , garlic, grana padano) and  Chuck had pan seared scallops (house smoked bacon, sweet potatoes, onions, apples, thyme, vincotto).

For dessert, bananas foster cheesecake, Il Palio triple chocolate cake (baked to order, milk chocolate ganache, valrhona chocolate gelato), maple bread pudding with hazelnut gelato.

Aztec dark roast coffee.

I’m gonna be up all night.
